Outreach activity with high school students

On 22nd Feb 2024, the Center of Nano Science and Technology (CNST) at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) hosted 21 students from LICEO TITO LIVIO. The visit commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Annamaria Petrozza, who provided an overview of IIT and the research centers, setting the stage for an enlightening visit. After that, engaging presentations were delivered to elucidate the concepts of light and optoelectrical materials, showcasing their ubiquitous applications in everyday life.

The visitors were taken to the labs of Device Fabrication and Advanced Spectroscopy as part of the tour. I had the pleasure of guiding the students through the Device Fabrication lab. In the Device Fabrication lab, students were acquainted with the equipment utilized in fabricating LED devices and witnessed the fabrication process. Brief explanations were provided, elucidating the scientific challenges addressed in the laboratory's endeavors.

Throughout the experience, the students received a comprehensive education on LED devices, blending theoretical concepts with hands-on demonstrations. This immersive approach aimed to ignite curiosity and deepen understanding of optoelectronic technologies among the next generation of scientists and engineers.
